This painting is one of the illustrations for the book “Uncle Kawaiola’s Dream” written by Victor C. Pellegrino.  The story is about a young Hawaiian man’s dream to restore the ancient lo‘i kalo (wetland taro patch).  A boy tells his uncle of his dreams in life with the new understanding that one must keep their dreams alive and work to accomplish their dreams
